Question:
Hello, I need to replace a rotor and caliper on my fastload boat trailer. 3500-6000 lbs. The caliper Im replacing is a Kodiak 225. Can you tell me if you have any cheaper options available that I can replace this with? Please provide links for any direct replacements you might have along with the corrosion resistance rating. Also, please include links for applicable rotors that would work with this caliper. Thank you!

Hey Jason, if you want to swap out the whole brake setup on your braking axles (new calipers, rotors, pads, brackets all around) then you may be able to find a cheaper option. However, brake parts are brand-specific in most cases and you don't want to try and make other brands work with your current Kodiak parts. Kodiak is usually pretty cost-effective while still being good quality, so we won't have any cheaper kits regardless.
You'll need Kodiak caliper # KDBC225DAC and then the rotor depends on what size you currently have, and if it's a slip-on rotor or a rotor and hub assembly built together.
- # KHR10D is a 10" rotor with 5 on 4-1/2" lug pattern with studs built-in (acts as a hub)
- # KR10D is a 10" rotor with 5 on 4-1/2" lug pattern with no studs (it fits over an existing hub setup)
If you have the larger 12", then the only option is # KR12D with 6 on 5-1/2" lug pattern with no studs (slip over hub)
All of these parts I've linked are Dacromet which are the best corrosion-resistance available. Great for boats.
Let me know what you think, or if you can provide some more info and I can give you some other recommendations if need be. :)
