Question:

I have a 1985 EZ Loader trailer, tandem axle. The title shows the model as TM 6.6 4600. G.V.W.R is 5890. The brake drums are 10 dia. What brake kit do you suggest? I will also need an actuator for a 2 ball.

Hey James, thanks for the information! To replace the brakes on your 1985 EZ Loader trailer, I recommend the Hydraulic Brake Kit item # AKFBBRK-35-D. These are a pair of 3,500 lbs of 10" brake assemblies that fit a 4-bolt brake mounting flange.

The Hydraulic Brake Kit item # AKFBBRK-35-D are free backing brakes that will allow you to back your trailer down the loading ramp without having to get out and engage the lockout on your actuator. They are Dacromet coated for corrosion resistance and include stainless springs, and aluminum cylinders that hold up well in saltwater along with freshwater.

The item # AKUBRK-35-D assemblies are what you'll need if you're not wanting free backing brakes.

To replace your actuator, I also recommend the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator item # DX27FR. This bolt on actuator is designed for drum brakes and has a 2" coupler. It is zinc plated and also has a aluminum master cylinder to prevent corrosion.
