Updated 04/07/2026 | Published 04/01/2026 >
Question:
I have 2024 Carry On 6x14 utility trailer. Its a tandem axle and I had a bearing fail and caused the spindle fall off the trailer. I was wondering if its repairable. I will attach the info for the trailer. Im pretty handy gets never repaired a trailer axle. I removed the tire to get home and on the way home the spindle fell off somewhere. Complete bearing failure

Hey Josh, thanks for reaching out, and sorry to hear that happened. We do carry replacement spindles, so it technically is possible to weld a new one on. The thing is that spindles must be welded on at a very precise angle. If the angle is off by even a small fraction of an inch, it can cause the tire to track poorly and wear unevenly. It can also throw the brakes out of alignment and burn up your pads. We typically recommend having new spindles welded on by an axle shop. Any shop that works on trailer axles should have the equipment and know-how to do it right.
To track down the correct spindle, I'll need to know your axle weight capacity and bearing sizing.
For example, the #84 E-Z Lube Spindle # TRU74FR is for a standard 3.5K axle and has a 1-3/4" diameter stub.
If that sounds like a bit too much, the next option is to replace the axle entirely. For that we will need to know the axle weight capacity, hub face length and spring center length.
Shoot me that trailer/axle info when you get a chance and I'm happy to look into it and make a recommendation.
