Can Electric Brakes be Used on a Boat Trailer

Question:
Good morning, I have been reading many articles regarding braking systems for trailers. You video has been the most informative. Do you have a recommendation for electric brakes for marine application. I have read differing opinions with the thought that there are marine grade parts for electric braking systems. If this is true, can you specify the specific parts for a boat trailer? Thank you,

In general we do not recommend running electric brakes on a boat trailer for the obvious reason that water and electricity are not a good combination.
The best recommendation I could recommend would be to go with an electric over hydraulic setup. This will give you the absolute best of both worlds. You get the power and compatibility with marine applications of hydraulic brakes and you get the flexibility and adjustability of electric brakes.
To see all that the parts and everything you need to consider when adding EOH brakes to your boat trailer check out the link I attached.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. Unlike most brake controllers this one is compatible with electric over hydraulic brake systems as well.
