Looking for Replacement Hub for PT 185 Tracker Trailer
Updated 03/13/2026 | Published 03/10/2026 >
Question:
I have a 2005 trail star boat trailer, boat is a PT 185 Tracker single axle and never had any problems with earrings still on original. Garage kept and always checked grease before using and after. Since my age is telling me I need a back up or maybe just replace hub for peace of mind thats what happens when you age. What are your recommendations for my trailer, I would like to be able to just install by replacing hub that is so to speak plug and play. Thanks Mike Ive included a picture ofthe informatiomn label that is on trailer. seems it wont let me load picture ?

Hey Mike, from a previous customer with your exact trailer we have determine that you have a 2,000 lb axle and a 5 on 4-1/2 inch wheel bolt pattern so for a replacement hub that is "plug and play" you would want the part # AKIHUB-545-2-LF-2K which would pop right on and is ready to go. This hub has the bearings already installed and also pre-greased.

You should not need to replace the hub. You can pull the hub to check for bearing damage or excessive wear. Studs on the hubs can be replaced as well. It would be cheaper to replace bearings and races with the right tools. As long as the hub has no excessive play and bearing wear it should be fine. Make sure to use a good grease for bearings. I prefer Paragon 3000 for roller bearing/high speed bearings. Moly Paragon 3000 for ball joints etc. Do not use Moly grease above 2% for high speed bearings.
