Hub Recommendation for Trailer with 2,700 lb Axle Capacity
Published 11/21/2017 >
Question:
I am in the process of purchasing new tires and wheels for my boat trailer. It has been recommended I change hubs on my boat trailer. The trailer is a 1992 Tracker Marine TrailStar tandem wheel. The GAWR all axles is 2750 Lbs. The trailer currently has 5 on 5 1/2 bolt pattern hubs. The recommendation is to change to four bolt pattern hubs since it will be easier to find wheels that have a four bolt pattern versus a five bolt pattern. Im not certain what to do. Im hoping you can explain any benefits or problems I might encounter if I decide to follow this recommendation. Respectfully,

I would agree you are going to have a much easier time finding wheels with a 4 on 4 inch bolt pattern than 5 on 5-1/2 inch as that's not a very common size.
Most likely the hub part # CE13109 that you referenced is a confirmed fit but you might want to verify the bearing numbers of your current hub to be sure. If your bearing numbers are both L44649 or have an inner diameter of 1.06 this will fit and work well.
