Looking for Way to Install Brake Controller in 2007 Itasca Meridian

Updated 03/10/2026 | Published 03/06/2026

Question:

I have a 2007 Itasca Meridian motorhome with a Freightliner chassis. It is not wired with a brake controller. Do you have a controller and wiring that would work with this motorhome? Thanks

Hey Ty, if you can find a brake controller install harness 3027-P that would be correct for your 2007 Itasca Meridian. We don't have a way to get it at this time as the company that makes them is out of business. So if you can find that harness you can wire in basically any brake controller with it including the Redarc Tow Pro Liberty # RED52VR.

Thank you for the information. Also, would a surge brake tow bar and system work better for the motirhome since I use the exhaust brake and the electric brake controller wouldn't know we're slowing down. Advantages / Disadvantages???? Thanks for your help.

@TyB Does your exhaust brake light up the stoplights of your motorhome when activated? If so, the electric brake controller would then at that point begin trying to apply the trailer brakes.
