Can The JR Products RV LP Gas Manifold JR45CR Be Used With High Pressure Unregulated Propane?

Updated 03/04/2026 | Published 02/27/2026

Question:

Is this manifold rated for the high pressure coming out of a propane tank? We have a 5 lb propane tank that I want to connect to appliances via quick-connect fittings. Currently, the regulators for the appliances are built into the appliances, so there wont be a regulator coming directly out of the propane tank. Can this product be used for this purpose?

Thanks for reaching out. The JR Products RV LP Gas Manifold # JR45CR is designed for use with low pressure, regulated propane only. It is not rated to handle high pressure propane coming directly from a tank.

Propane tanks, including 5 lb cylinders, output high pressure gas that must be regulated down to standard RV appliance pressure, which is typically 11 inches water column, before entering a manifold or distribution system. Running unregulated tank pressure through this manifold would not be safe and could lead to leaks or component failure.

You'd need to add a regulator to the 5lb tank for it to work with the manifold. Typically, the 5-lb tanks are only used for appliances with built in regulators and wouldn't be used for connecting to a RV manifold.

Your best bet would be to look into getting a tee with a quick connect. Take a look at the MB Sturgis Sturgi-Stay T-Fitting # 103537-MBS. It connects directly to the POL valve on the tank and has quick connects. It's rated for high pressure unregulated propane.

Because of my gas stove, I would need a regulator that outputs 19 PSI. Would this manifold handle 19 PSI? I see it is rated for 350 PSI, but I want to ask to confirm. Thanks

@RogerT Yes the manifold can handle 19 PSI just fine.
