Can Lippert Spare Carrier LC159056 Carry Wheel with 4.9 inch Pilot Diameter

Question:

I went from a 6 lug wheel to an 8 lug wheel on my RV. Consequently the center bore went from 3.75” to 4.9.” The bracket for the spare tire doesn’t seem to grab the rim by as much on the 8 lug wheels. Are these winch brackets a one size fits all or do they make wider brackets for wheel with larger center bores? Thank you

Hey Henry, there isn't a larger version of the bracket that comes with the # LC159056 that we can offer unfortunately. However that bracket should be 7 inches long which means you'd have an inch on either side to grab the wheel by which would be safe. I would try storing the wheel and then pulling and pushing on it to test how secure it is and you should find that it does secure it it really well.
