Can I Use WFCO WF46FR RV Converter Power Panel In Cargo Trailer Build Instead Of An RV?

Published 02/24/2026

Question:

I’m building a cargo trailer camper with 30A inlet. Can I use one of these panels even though it’s not a factory RV?

Yes Ryan - the WFCO # WF46FR 40A RV converter power panel horizontal power center works very well in cargo trailer builds.

It gives you:
-30A main breaker
-5 AC branch circuits
-6 DC circuits
-Integrated 40A converter with Auto-Detect charging

Just make sure your wall opening matches the rough opening requirement 10-3/8 inch Width x 4-1/8 inch Depth x 7 inch Height and that you have adequate ventilation. I imagine the cut out opening won't matter much since you are doing a DIY build and you aren't fitting to a pre-cut opening.

What loads are you planning to run? And do you already have a shore / generator power connection to run up to this panel? If not, let me know and I'll find some parts for you!

thanks Andrew. I don't have a 30a plug yet for the shore power to hook up to.

@Ryan You're very welcome, and no problem, you can use something standard like the Hughes Autoformers 30A power inlet # HU87VR.
