Will Timbren Severe Duty Kit Fit 2022 Ford F-350 with Camper Package
Updated 02/23/2026 | Published 02/17/2026 >
Question:
I have a 2022 F350 XL, FX4, dually, long bed with camper package and a single rear upper overload leaf spring. There is also a 3 spacer/block between the top of the rear leaf spring pack and the bottom of the contact overload leaf. I carry a 6000-6500 lb slide in truck camper which produces about 4 of rear sag. I am looking at purchasing the Timbren FRTT350J, as specified by Timbren etrailer P/N TFRTT350J. My question which I asked Timbren as well is: Does the 3 spacer/block I provided in the description in any way make this part not usable? I ask because Ive also contacted a Sumo rep and the Sumo will not work with this 3 spacer/block. Please advise.

Hey Tony, based on how the Timbren kit part # TFRTT350J installs I do not see how your overload spring spacer block would interfere with it so this would work for you. Is that block that you have designed to engage the overload springs a little sooner by chance? It almost sounds something like the Torklift Stable Load part # TL89CR which is designed to do that.
I attached a picture that shows how the Timbren installs relative to the spring pack.

Tony, I installed them on my 2021 F350 King Ranch last year. I pull a 36 foot GD Reflection 5th wheel and used air bags on my previous trucks, but these work perfectly! Very pleased with my decision to go this way.

The Timbren severe duty kit works great with a load. They ride is horrible when not pulling a trailer. I'm thinking about going back to the factory bump stops. 2024 Ford F-350

Jameson, thanks for the reply. I could be wrong, but I believe the photo you provided shows the unloaded position of the Timbren relative to the axle. It looks very familiar to photos I've been looking at on your questions page for this product. The gap is supposed to be 1-1/2" or less. This gap looks larger. In my conversation with Timbren, I told them that the unloaded gap between the bottom of the frame rail and the top of the axel on my truck is about 9-1/4". The Timbren, with one 1" spacer, has a length of 6-7/8" which would leave a gap of roughly 2-1/4" to 2-3/8" +/-. That gap is too large. Reading the questions about this product on your web site, another user with a truck very similar to mine was instructed by Etrailer to add a second 1" spacer and then purchase a longer bolt to hold the assembly together before mounting on the truck. The customer responded to my question and said that the "new design" of an added spacer is working as desired. Nevertheless, I reached out to Timbren to determine if this was the preferred solution before I purchase. I've only had my truck for a short time and I've learned a bunch, such as some of these trucks have lifted bodies from the factory while others do not, hence the large gap with the "stock" Timbren installed. I hope to hear something from Timbren fairly soon, but I responded to their request for a measurement and photo of the unloaded gap between the frame rail and top of axle only today. What are your thoughts on the Timbren vs. the Hellwig contact overload leaf springs, (Hellwig PN 9706) which I believe is Etrailer PN HE89FR? This is an additional double leaf contact leaf spring that attaches (bolt on) to the existing upper overload spring.
