Will Upgrading From Load Range B 4.80-12 Tire to Load Range E ST145/R12 Make Trailer Bouncy

Updated 02/10/2026 | Published 02/04/2026

Question:

I currently running load range B 4.8-12. Ive read the AM10140 will fit my trailer. The trailer is a small motorcycle pull behind Aluma MCT. Will the load range of the AM10140 be any issue, as it is much higher that im currently running. Im more worried about the max psi being much higher for the higher load range tire and the trailer bouncing around or is that not a concern?

Hey Tom! The Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Trailer Tire # AM10140 will fit as long as you have a 12" x 4" rim. Moving from B to E is a pretty big jump, and that is going to be a light trailer even with the motorcycle on it. I am a concerned that you will get a stiffer ride than you want with that much of an increase so I don't think this is the best option.

Are you trying to switch from a bias ply to a radial? A better choice would be the Taskmaster 4.80R12 Radial Trailer Tire # TT48012C. This gives you the radial tire and a slightly higher capacity/ply at load range C without going overboard.

What ride are you planning next?

Hey Tom, I installed the Taskmaster tires on our Time Out motorcycle trailer last year and pulled it for about 2,000 miles with the max tire pressure set. The trailer weight with cargo was around 500 lbs. The rougher roads were pretty noticeable but they were never "bouncy", though they might have been with a lighter load. I intend to reduce the air pressure quite a bit when we travel later this year. The tire quality is AAA+, I wouldn't hesitate to recommed them.

Tom, I went with the Taskmaster and am very pleased with them. Drive from Toledo Ohio to S Florida a couple times a year and these tires have been great. Driving at 70-75 mph and feel fine. Speed rating is 81 mph on these radial tires.
