Can Curt Hitch for 2017 Jeep Compass Be Modified to Fit Other Body Style

I was wondering if I bought the wrong body style then if I could trim off the lower plate for the vertically mounting bolts and just go with the two on each side instead of the 4, like the body style I don’t have would use. Would the curvature the in the crossbar like on the one with the one with only two bolts on each side make a difference or would the exhaust still fit okay? Thanks again!!

Hi Hunter; you can't really modify the # C13363 to fit the old body style. The frame is different and the hitch has different measurements. Not installing it as intended could also lead to failure with major consequences. If you have the new body style you can use the # C13363. If you have the old body style you need to use the # C13081 instead. If you aren't sure, new body style models will have the letter T as the 11th character in the VIN.

Hey Hunter, did you end up finding out which body style your truck has and choosing the right Curt hitch for it? Knowing which one worked could really help others sorting out the same fit question.
