Is the Original Progressive Dynamics 4000 Series Converter PD4045KA Lithium Compatible?

Updated 03/05/2026 | Published 02/02/2026

Question:

I have an 2014 Iconic by Eclipse that has this converter. I am looking to change over to Lithium batteries and wanted to know if my converter has the ability to accept/charge them or only the newer version. Also if I can use lithium will it automatically know or is there a switch or setting I have to adjust?

Hey Brian, welcome back. The current version of the Progressive Dynamics item # PD4045KA is indeed compatible with Lithium batteries. To set it up you'll need to make sure the output mode switch is set to LI for lithium batteries. That will change the output to 14.6v.

If your model is originally from 2014, it likely will not have a lithium mode and will need to be replaced with a new model. I attached a diagram below that will show you were to find the switch and how to change it over. If you don't have the switch you'll need to upgrade to the new version of the item # PD4045KA.

Does your converter have the Lithium switch?

Hey Brian, were you able to check if your converter has the lithium switch? Knowing whether you found that switch or upgraded to the new version could help others with older setups like yours.

@JerredH it did not have the switch. I need to compare measurements of old to new before I make the purchase. Thanks for the help.
