Can 600 lb Tongue Weight Rated Blue Ox WD System be Used with 2020 Lance 1575 Travel Trailer

Updated 03/04/2026 | Published 01/31/2026

Question:

I bought a 2020 Lance 1575 travel trailer. It is a light weight trailer GVW 3700 lbs with what looks like a pretty thin frame. It came with what I believe is a Blue Ox 2 point weight distribution hitch. The arms are round at the hitch and L shape out to flat bars at the attachment point on the trailer A-frame. The bars have 400 - 600 TW, mfg date and 105881 stamped on them. There are no markings anywhere else. My question is, if the stamped tongue weight is 400 - 600 lbs would this be for GVW trailers 6000 lbs and under? My concern is using the wrong bars and transferring too much weight to the A-frame and kinking the frame. The Blue Ox 2 point hitch looks identical to mine. Is this the weight distribution hitch you would recommend for a GVW 3700 lb travel trailer? Thanks

Hey Don, yes if you have a Blue Ox weight distribution system that has a tongue weight rating of between 400 and 600 lbs that would mean the total trailer weight capacity for the system is 6,000 lbs. Since trailer tongue weight is typically between 10 and 15 percent of total trailer weight this would be correct rating for a trailer that has a GVWR of 3,700 lb like you have. That said if you just happened to use the wrong bars it wouldn't damage the trailer frame. You still have to set up the spring bar tension which you'd just need to follow the instructions for

Hey Don, how did things go with your Blue Ox weight distribution hitch on the Lance 1575? Did the setup feel balanced once you adjusted the spring bar tension? Sharing how it performed could help others with similar lightweight trailers.
