Will Furrion Chill Cube Thermostat Work With Furnace With 1 or 2 Speeds

Updated 01/31/2026 | Published 01/28/2026

Question:

Hello, I was looking at using LC74DX with the FR84TQ Chill Cube heat pump model. I do want to control my furnace as well. In the manual for the thermostat, the connections for the T-Stat shows 12v+ and ground for the 2 wires. Aren’t the furnace wires typically just an open/close contact, not positive ground? They also only show the connection at the T-Stat not the other end in the ceiling. Also, in the manual it shows 4 fan speeds in operating mode Heat-F, which seems to be for the furnace. What if the furnace only has 1 or 2 speeds? Last, it shows dry mode is not available with the wall mount thermostat. It appears to be an operating mode with the remote. When using the T-Star and controller can you still use the remote or ceiling controls for that option or does using the control disable those other control options? Thank you

Hey Tony! I'm going to save you a lot of trouble here. The Chill Cube Thermostat # LC74DX is absolutely terrible. We have had nothing but issues with this, and there has been endless back and forth with Furrion about it. Some people are able to get it to work with their furnace but, odds of success are low and setup will likely be a painful nightmare.

If you already have a furnace running off of a thermostat I would use the existing thermostat and run the Chill Cube strictly off of the remote and ADB controls. If your existing thermostat can't run without the AC unit you're replacing, I would add a simple furnace thermostat like # DMC84RR to run it.

Also, you will need a complete replacement system with the air distribution box to use the new Chill Cube with the heat pump. The # FR84TQ you referenced is just the AC unit itself. The # FR67TQ (white) and # FR97TQ (black) are the correct part numbers that include the ADB. Both are designed for ducted setups.

Is this for your 2021 NoBo?
