Question:
Trailer Hitch Neither of the trailer hitches etrailer, curt are rated for weight distribution systems for my 2023 Genesis GV80. First, I dont understand what make it weight distribution rated. Could you please explain it or give me a reference source so I understand why. Is there is a modification that would enable making one of them weight distribution? I am interested in towing a travel trailer like a Winnebago Mircro mini 2108DS and want to use weight distribution for towing safety. Thanks. David

Hey David, this is a great question but it really comes down to the vehicle more than the hitch whether or not it can be used with a weight distribution system. WD systems put a lot more leverage on the hitch and vehicle chassis so the vehicle has to be able to withstand that.
Typically the hitches that can be used with a WD have longer brackets that run front to back that will distribute some of that added stress whereas the hitches that fit the 2023 Genesis GV80 like the Curt # C84UR only has small flanges on the sides of it that attach to the frame.
I looked up the towing capacity of your GV80 and it looks to be 6,000 lb and the most the Winnebago Mircro mini 2108DS can weigh fully loaded is 5,500 lb so you would be under the capacity at least.

Thanks for the information. Very helpful If I move forward I will buy the trailer hitch from you and get a recommendation on installer if I don’t do it myself. I have done hitches and towing base plates on 2 hondas but laying on concrete wrenching when getting older is not as fun as it was.
