Is It Possible Over Tightening Cause An Air Leak On The Inflation Kit?
Updated 12/29/2025 | Published 12/12/2025 >
Question:
I got these extensions for my class c, 2013 E450 dually. I also have a tire monitoring system. Since I have installed them the 2 outside tires continue to leak. I am not sure what to do to fix this I have tried tightening them down. Is it possible they were over tightened and need new o-tings. It’s a small leak but very inconvenient with us being on the road. The inside ones are working perfectly. This is a real problem though and I need help fixing. Thanks we are heading on a trip for Christmas so I need answers if possible.

Hey Kyle,
There is definitely a chance they were over tightened and the o-rings were damaged causing that slow leak. That by far is the most common cause of a leak with these valves. It is best to tighten by hand until it is snug, and then use a wrench to tighten once more. Unless there is any noticeable physical damage, I would say over tightening is the cause.
Where are you heading to this Christmas?

Hey Kyle, did replacing or adjusting the o-rings on your TireMinder extensions stop the slow leak on your outer tires? Your update could make it easier for others dealing with the same issue on their dually setups.
