Can Coupler Repair Kit CA-5100-RK Fit Shelby Coupler

Question:

I ordered a CA-5100-RK latch kit 123824317 for my 2001 Casita which has a Shelby 5101 coupler on it. Did I order the correct latch repair replacement kit? Additional, how far down should the ball lock lever go around the ball? With the 2” ball completely in the coupler does the ball lock lever fit below the ball or near the center of the ball? I don’t want to “high ball” the trailer on the ball and risk losing it! Thanks

Hey Ron, the repair kit you ordered was not designed for a Shelby jack. We used to carry the repair kit but it's been several years since we stopped being able to get it so we can't help with that unless you'd be open to a new coupler?

For a very similar replacement, I recommend the etrailer.com Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler # CA5100B. This takes a 2 inch ball, is rated for 5,000 lbs and fits a 3 inch wide channel just like your Shelby coupler.

Thank you for your reply and support. I figured it was going to be an issue finding the correct replacement. Next move is on to a “updated” coupler. Thanks for the correct item link. eTrailer is the best!

@RonH well I spoke too soon! The link is not the correct part for my camper. As you can plainly see in my picture it is an A frame, not a straight shank. It seems a bit more investigation on your behalf is required. I did find the right part, CA 5100 B CA5100B

@Ron You're right! Sorry about that. I've seen the Shelby coupler that we used to carry so much which was a pole tongue style I just assumed that's what you had which is silly since you sent in a picture too. The part # CA5100B would be an excellent choice.
