Suspension Enhancement For 2020 Forest River Sunseeker 2350 LE On Chevy Express 4500 Frame

Updated 12/17/2025 | Published 12/02/2025

Question:

Looking for rear air suspension helper springs for my 2020 Forest River Sunseeker 2350 LE. However, it is built on a 2018 model year CHEVROLET EXPRESS CUTAWAY 4500, and not on the usual ford chassis. Any thoughts? I have contacted commercial vehicle suspension installers and RV dealers with no luck...

Hi Ernie!

That 2018 Chevy Express 4500 Cutaway does look to be causing difficulties. I checked with all three manufacturers we carry (Air Lift, Firestone, and Pacbrake) as well as forums (Forest River, Sunseeker, and Chevy) and other manufacturers I could find on the web, but to no avail. It does not look like there are any air bag options for a 2018 Chevy Express 4500 (cutaway or cargo van) anywhere on the market, unfortunately.

Would you consider an alternate way of supplementing your suspension? We do have a couple good options, though I do have to mention, they are not adjustable like air bags would be. I have the two most heavy duty options listed below, but I do want to also ask; why are you wanting to add air bags? Is it just to beef up the suspension, or are you getting a lot of sway/body roll?

Timbren Suspension Enhancement System - Rear Axle # TGMRG45MH
SuperSprings Custom Suspension Stabilizer and Sway Control Kit # SSA17 (Check vertical clearance above spring pack before purchase. Product only fits vehicles with floor pan that is higher than top of frame)

Two questions. Which would you recommend, or should I do both? I do not have the factory helper spring so it looks like this spring won't fit. If you think I should do the springs, which one fits?

@ErnieD Doing both would likely make the ride pretty harsh and jarring, so I wouldn't do that. I would typically say the SuperSprings would be my choice, but not having the factory overload spring does rule them out. That said, there is nothing wrong with the Timben set up and with you weighing around 14,500 pounds, they will definitely help. That is what I would do. You could go with the SuperSprings Custom Suspension Stabilizer and Sway-Control Kit # SSA24, but these are a lower capacity. I think you will be happier with the Timbren set up.
