Hello David,
Happy to help you get your arms working as they should.
You’re on the right track. Your Roadmaster base plate, part number # 52347-1, uses the Twist-Lock removable arms. These arms are self-locking, so you don’t need to insert any extra pin or clip. The correct procedure is to push the arm straight into the receiver and then rotate it about 90 degrees, usually clockwise. When the arm is fully engaged, a spring-loaded plunger snaps into a notch in the arm, locking it in place. You can give the arm a light pull to confirm that it’s secure.
If you saw a video suggesting that the arms just slide in without locking, that likely referred to a different Roadmaster style. Some models, such as the EZ4 or EZ5 (Direct-Connect/Crossbar) types, use an external retaining pin to secure the arms. However, that’s not the case with the EZ Twist-Lock version your base plate uses.
If your arms aren’t clicking or locking in place, there are a few things to check. Make sure the arm is fully seated before rotating, and twist it all the way until you hear or feel the plunger engage. Then check that the spring-loaded pin inside the receiver moves freely, since it can sometimes get stuck from paint, dirt, or corrosion. Cleaning it and applying a light dry lubricant can help. Also, confirm that you have the correct Twist-Lock arms for your specific base plate model # 52347-1, since some are side-specific.
Please let me know if you were able to get it locked into place. Are you new to flat towing, or just getting a different vehicle set-up?

Hey David, did the Twist-Lock arms on your Roadmaster base plate end up locking in place once you cleaned and rotated them fully? Your update could make it easier for others working with the same setup.
