How to Prevent Arm Movement with Rock Tamer Mud Flaps
Updated 07/09/2024 | Published 06/21/2014 >
Question:
I have the 2 1/2inch receiver on my truck with the reducer for the 2inch x 2inch trailer hitch. However, when using my rock tamer mud flaps, the arm moves up and down. Is there anyway to prevent this movement or is this normal? I have tried everything I can think of to correct this, to no avail. The arm is tight to the hitch. Thanks.

I spoke to my contact at Rock Tamer and she said when installing the arms on the Rock Tamer mud flaps it is necessary to use a torque wrench to get the bolts to the correct tightness.
Many auto parts stores lend out tools so you will not have to buy one in most cases. It is recommended the bolts be torqued to 125 foot pounds, so you should use a torque wrench that has a rating that encompasses that 125 pounds. A hand wrench will not be enough.

Chris, I think you may have misunderstood the question from Murv. I have the same issue as he does. The hitch moves with in the receiver. The rock tamer is secured to the hitch… is there a wedge of some type that can be used to reduce or eliminate the wiggle in the hitch/reciever?
