Question:
Hello, I have an approximately 1986 single axle 16 Hudson trailer with a mobile home axle and hubs. Hub assembly is bolted on by 5 studs in the back. Quite certain Ill never find a 5 lug hub assembly to Upgrade. Do you have an axle with a 5 lug hub? I believe the original one is 71inch from center to center of the springs. Can you help? I would appreciate any help you could provide along with the purchase of an axle that will fit. Thank You! Parrie

Hello Parrie; even if you could find a hub that bolts on like that the bearings probably wouldn't match. Mobile home axles don't follow any kind of standard so replacing them is almost always the best option. Also, do you know the hub face to hub face length and the capacity you need? The spring center can vary on any given capacity or axle length so that isn't a good way to find a replacement axle.
Something like the Trailer Axle Beam with Easy Grease Spindles # e45GR might work but you need to make sure the 5,200 lb capacity is adequate and the 86-1/2" length matches. This has a spring center length of 71-1/2" so I would get a more precise measurement on that as well. If you need to you can always move the spring seats. Assuming you mean a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern when you say 5 lug you can use the Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K and then the # AKEBRK-7-SA for brakes.
If you have different measurements, or need a different capacity, let me know in the comments below.

Hey Parrie, were you able to get the measurements for the hub face and spring center on your Hudson trailer? Once you have those, it’ll be easier to confirm if that 5,200‑lb axle beam is the right fit. Let me know what you find—I’m here if you need a hand narrowing it down.
