Question:

Would this be a good shop jack for raising the rear of my ATV to work on the suspension?

That’s a solid plan, Kevin, and the 2-ton Tallboy # PM44FR can definitely handle the weight - it’s built for powersports rigs like ATVs and side-by-sides. The one thing to double-check is clearance: the jack’s minimum height is just under 8", so make sure your frame or axle sits high enough for it to slide under. If your ATV rides lower, you might need to roll it onto a short board or ramp first.

Once it’s in place, you can use the flat saddle under the frame or the U-shaped cradle under a round bar, and the 5 inch and 8 inch extensions make it easy to dial in your lift height without stacking blocks.

Do you mostly work on your machine in the shop or out in the field? I can share a few quick tips for keeping it steady on uneven ground.

Mostly in the shop, but I’ll bring it out to camp sometimes. We ride a lot of trails in Arkansas and something always needs fixing.

@Kevin Nice, Arkansas trails will test any machine! If you’re doing both shop and field stuff, that Tallboy’s a great call. In the shop, you’ll love how stable it feels on concrete with that wide footplate. Just give the ram a quick wipe and a drop of oil once in a while and it’ll last for a very long time. What kind of ATV are you wrenching on - utility or sport model?
