Does Curt Helux or MORryde Goosetech Have Better Ride Quality

Updated 12/22/2025 | Published 12/13/2025

Question:

Hello, Im looking at the curt helix gooseneck pin box. I have the curt flex air and wonder how it compares? The flex air has the rotating head the the gooseneck seems to only have the spring. Would this be a downgrade ride quality wise? Im also looking at the morryde GooseTech. I dont mind filling with air if it gives me the best ride but it would he nice to have my bed back, but again, ride quality trumps bed space. I have a BandW companion hitch. Thank you!

Hey Clarendon, you're on the right track. You’re not wrong in how you’re thinking about this. You’re coming off a Flex Air, which is about as good as it gets for ride quality, especially paired with a B&W Companion. That rotating head plus the air spring is doing a lot of work, soaking up the vertical hits and taking the edge off the fore-and-aft shove. So, the real question isn’t “are these gooseneck options good,” it’s “what am I giving up to get my bed back?”

The Curt Helux is going to feel the most familiar to you. It doesn’t have the rotating head, but the internal spring does a solid job knocking down the sharp stuff, and ride-wise it’s going to be closer to your Flex Air than the MORryde. You’ll still notice some push-pull compared to what you have now, but it’s not a solid pin or basic goose adapter. If you’re running big miles, heavy pin weight, and crappy highways, this is the one that keeps ride quality front and center while still letting you clear the bed.

The MORryde GooseTech is more of a “simple and dependable” setup. MORryde builds good stuff, no argument there, and the rubber shear spring does take the sting out of chucking, but it’s not air-ride smooth. It’s controlled, predictable, and low-maintenance, which a lot of guys like once they’re tired of worrying about shocks going out, springs aging and fiddling with things. If you want fewer moving parts and less babysitting, GooseTech makes sense. If you’re chasing the best ride you can get short of staying fifth-wheel, the Helux is the better play.

Long story short: if ride quality is still your number one concern, I’d lean Helux. I'm curious, what are you going to do with all of your newfound bed space?

Thats good to know. It's seems like with the flex air, even with the airbag and shock, sometimes the vertical shock is still present. Very much reduced but that were I'd like to see improvement if I change pin boxes. Thank you!
