Question:
Im looking to replace the axles on my 2026 Cougar 260 MLE. One is bent, still under warranty but I want something heavier duty - perhaps 7,000 lbs with electric brakes, self adjusting. Dexter: 7608250 S/N: 132398507010 D52 Capacity: 5100 LBS HF =86.50 SC =68.50 Gary 920-392-2582

Hi Gary; the highest capacity we have that matches your current axle length is 6,000 lbs. The Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with E-Z Lube Spindles - 86-1/2" Long # 8327826 will work as a replacement. Since the spring center measurement is slightly different you will also need to cut off the spring seats and weld on # TRSS300 to match your 68-1/2" measurement. If you want brakes as well you can use the # 23-458-459.

Hey Gary, how did the swap to the 6,000‑lb Dexter axle and brakes work out on your Cougar? Your update could make it easier for others looking to upgrade from a 5,100‑lb setup.
