Updated 11/13/2025 | Published 10/23/2025

Question:

I have a Shorlander trailer with a VIN of 1MDASAU25RA768597 for my 2023 Yamaha FSH 222 I am needing to replace this part https://www.etrailer.com/Brake-Actuator/Dexter/DX56FR.html but I am unsure if this is the correct part for my trailer or is it another one in your inventory. I do have brakes. Can you please advise?

Hi Chris; we don't have a way of knowing what parts are on your trailer using the VIN. The Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator # DX56FR is designed for a 3" x 5" tongue and disc brakes. If you have drum brakes you need the # DX83FR instead. If you have a different size trailer tongue let me know and I can see what else is available.

Did something happen to the brake actuator that came with the trailer? It looks like it is a 2024 model so most parts should be in good shape.

Hey Chris, what ended up working for your Shorelander trailer—did the Dexter brake actuator for disc brakes fit, or did you go with the one for drum brakes instead? Knowing which one matched up could help others with a similar setup.
