Will a Weight Distribution System Help w/an In Bed Camper and a Motorcycle Carrier?

Updated 10/30/2025 | Published 10/13/2025

Question:

I have a 2017 Toyota Tundra SR5 double cab 4x4 paired with a 2022 Capri Camper that fits in the bed with the tailgate down. The truck is overbuilt to accommodate so much weight. Now I am trying to fit a 2024 XSR700 motorcycle in the rear using the TorkLift SuperHitch Hero Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class IV - Dual 2inch Receivers Part Number: TL97CR paired with TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension for SuperHitch Trailer Hitch Receivers - 21inch Long Part Number: TLE1521 My question is, wtf is weight distribution? is it a product? is it the chains on connecting the extension to the hitch? The specs of the Hitch Extension is confusing not understanding how I can distribute the weight to make sure I have 500lb tongue weight? The XSR700 WET weight is about 410lbs not including the carrier. Here are the specs for the 21foot inch extension: Weight capacity when used with SuperHitch Hero: Maximum gross trailer weight: 3,500 lbs Maximum GTW when used with weight distribution: 5,000 lbs Maximum tongue weight: 350 lbs Maximum TW when used with weight distribution: 500 lbs Can I get some guidance if there is anyway I can accommodate this much tongue weight with my set up please? And clarification of how I can distribute the weight appropriately. Thank you! The picture attached is my current set up, but will be placing the tire carrier elsewhere.

Hey Kyle, thanks for the picture! Cute dog!!

A weight distribution system like item # BXW1000 connects to a trailer's tongue and transfers some of the weight from the tow vehicle's rear axle to the front reducing tongue weight. Unless you are planning on hauling your 2024 XSR700 motorcycle behind your Tundra on a trailer there is nothing a weight distribution system will do for you.

The TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension item # TLE1521 will only be able to extend out the receiver of your TorkLift SuperHitch item # TL97CR. There will be no reduction in your tongue weight.

What did you mean when you said your Tundra was overbuilt to handle so much weight?

Hey Kyle, how did things work out with your Tundra and the SuperTruss extension once you sorted out the weight distribution question? It’d be great to hear if your setup handled the motorcycle load the way you hoped. Your update could make it easier for others working with a similar setup.
