Question:

Does this work with the class a motorhome with an automatic transfer switch? I have aDoes this work with the class a motorhome with an automatic transfer switch? I have a generator built into my class a motorhome.

Hi Jason, welcome back! The Active Controls ActiveStart Plug-In Soft Start # AS54FR is not compatible with your motorhome. The transfer switch will interfere with its functionality. You will have to use the # AS84FR or # AS24FR and wire it after the transfer switch and before the breaker panel if you want to use a softstart.

They told me it was not compatible with a moterhome with a ats. Automatic transfer switch.

@JasonG that is not what we have been told. I have an active conversation with them right now about something else so I'll ask for some clarification.

@JasonG alright there was probably just a lack of clarification on which 50A units worked with the transfer switch in our initial communication with Active Controls. The plug-in # AS54FR cannot be used with an automatic transfer switch. You will have to use the # AS84FR or # AS24FR and wire it after the transfer switch and before the breaker panel for it to work. This way the transfer switch doesn't chatter and interfere with softstarting events.
