Question:
Will this affect the trailer’s towing capacity? Can I safely tow a 6,000 lb travel trailer with this setup if the tow ball is rated for it? Does it reduce the vehicle’s overall tow capacity?

Hey Ben. The Weigh Safe Universal 2" to 2-5/16" Stainless Steel Clamshell Hitch Adapter item # WS82KR does not reduce a hitch's towing capacity or the capacity of the vehicle. It won't improve it either so you'll want to stay below your vehicle and hitch's listed towing capacities. As long as you do that you can safely use the Weigh Safe item # WS82KR with your current setup.
What kind of trailer do you have?
