Best Replacement AC for a Dometic 59136.531

Published 09/24/2025

Question:

What is the best replacement option for a Dometic 59136.531 AC that has a 5 button thermostat with the phone cableinch plug in the back? The current unit I have has a heat pump but I am looking for a straight AC unit to replace it and preferable the easiest swap! Thank you!

Hey Cody, thanks for all of the information. I have a solution but I am sorry to say there isn't going to be a direct fit replacement. There's two reasons for that.

The first reason those systems you looked at aren't going to work is we found out about this time last year that the wiring harnesses are not actually compatible with other systems like Advent, Furrion, and Coleman for example. The connections on your Dometic and those models can physically be made but the pin functions on the connectors stopped lining up. Additionally, mixing and matching brands voids all warranties.

The second is in 2025 all RV AC systems had to change over to a new coolant called R32. This was a EPA mandated decision. Part of this upgrade means that nothing made with the older R410A coolant in it, like all the Furrions, Advents, and Dometics you were looking at, fit any system made after 2025 that has the new coolant. R32 is more efficient but none of the new components work with the prior systems like your Dometic 59136.531.

At this point, in order to replace your Dometic 59136.531 AC unit you have to replace the entire system. I recommend the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System item # ADV62SR. This includes a 15,00 btu AC unit, an air distribution box that works with both ducted and ductless setups, and a thermostat. You can add a heat-strip with item # ADV34QR.

What kind of trailer or motorhome do you have?

We have a 2005 Living Quarters horse trailer with the single unit that is ducted throughout.

@CodyB Ok, yeah the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System item # ADV62SR is going to work great for that setup. Let me know if you have any follow up questions. I know that's a lot of information for someone expecting a quick plug and play solution like we used to have until recently.
