Looking For A Demco DA86 Actuator For Drum Brakes Specifically

Updated 08/26/2025 | Published 08/20/2025

Question:

Hi, I wanted to confirm that the Demco Brake Actuator - DM48CV works with drum brakes. On the page it says its for disc brakes in one spot and drum brakes in another. Thanks!

Hey Dustin,

The Demco Actuator # DM48CV is in fact for disc brakes and we have to get our page updated! Thank you for pointing that out so we can get that fixed haha. Since you're looking for a drum brake application the actuator you are going to want to go with is the Demco part # DM98CV that is going to be the same DA86 actuator for drum brake applications.

What kind of trailer are you wanting to put this on?

Also, Nick, does the # DM98CV come with the bolts needed to install it on the trailer or are those sold separately? Thanks

@Dustin It does not come with hardware. Most of our actuators/couplers will use the existing hardware as it is all pretty much standard size between brands.

@NickS okay thanks nick. My current couple are is welded on so I'll have to cut that off first and likely drill some holes for the bolts. I believe it said the holes are one half inch diameter on the new coupler.

@Dustin Correct 1/2" diameter and if you wanted the horizontal spacing is an 1-1/2" and vertical spacing of 1.13". You'll notice it kind of makes a triangle, but i typically just take a sharpie and hold it up and mark it to know where to drill.
