Anthony, you can absolutely run the Velit 12V AC units for RVs ( # VE87QV 8K btu or # VE69QV 6.5k btu mini) while driving, as long as your alternator is feeding a DC-to-DC charger to keep the battery topped off. Many van owners do this to arrive at camp with a pre-cooled rig. It makes long road days more comfortable.

Do you already have a DC/DC charger installed? If not, I recommend something like Redarc BCDC Trailer Battery Charger with Smart Battery Monitor and 80 Watt Solar Panel # RED84PR which includes a charger to go from your start battery to the 12v battery(s), without hurting your alternator or start battery. Then it includes a solar panel to help keep the auxiliary 12v battery(s) topped off throughout the day when not driving.
