Hello Gary,

When hooking up the Redarc MC4 Connector Kit for Solar Panels #RED98VR, 8 AWG wire will be too thick to fit properly. Instead, you'll want to use 11 AWG wire, which is the correct size for the SRC0001 connectors.

I've attached an image showing the specifications for reference.

Are you adding more solar to your setup, or is this your first time getting solar hooked up?

Hi Kate F, Do you sell a connector that will work for 6 gauge wire? Please don't tell me to use 11 gauge wire. 1) It will start a fire in my RV and 2) It doesn't exist anyway

@Jack Hey jack, since it specifies the 11 AWG I am going to need to reach out to Redarc to make sure the thicker 8 AWG is going to fit. I will let you know as soon as my contact there gets back to me. I just need to make sure it will physically fit.

@Jack Hello Jack, I heard back from Redarc but it is not the answer you were hoping for, and since they cannot recommend going to an 8 AWG you will need to use the 11 AWG, unfortunately I cannot suggest modifying their product. This was their response: The SRC001-CK, utilizing AWG 11 can be used for up to 30A, roughly 600W’s – using the equation of 5A’s per 100W of panel.   It is also rated for up to 50 VDC voltage.  The limitations are not with the wiring, they are with the connectors.  We use AWG 11 with ratings up to 40A when utilizing the Anderson Plug.  If the customer’s power needs are beyond these specifications, unfortunately, I would not recommend the SRC001-CK  Also, SRC0008, utilizing Anderson uses AWG 11 with a top rating to 50A, but only a 5 foot wire run.  A lot depends on the length of the wire run as well. Once again, I am sorry I do not have a different answer.
