Options For Carrying An E-Bike With A 2023 Ford F150 While Towing An East To West Della Terra

Updated 09/04/2025 | Published 08/17/2025

Question:

I have an E bike Urtopia Fusion step through. I have a F150 5.5 bed and pull an East to west Della Terra. I like your hitch Jack for the bikes. My question is: I have put in 50 years of hard labor, I have no shoulders for lifting anymore. Is there a way for a trailer Jack hitch that can lower down a ways so it is less lifting? Or am I asking for the impossible. I know from being self employed there is always a way. I am going to live full time on the road. a 2 reciver involved could be used on the truck hitch when not towing. Thank you

Hi Doug!

I may have a couple other options that would work for you, but there is no rack that mounts to a jack that will be lower, unfortunately.

First possible option would be to mount a front hitch on your 2023 Ford F150. Just keep in mind this will not work if you have the auto deploying air dam. Installation requires removal of the lower front air dam and bumper fascia trimming. You could then use a few different options for bike racks, but I have one that will work with your bike listed below (the fenders caused a few difficulties finding options):

Draw-Tite Front Mount Hitch # 65067
Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # HLY94FR

Another option would be to add a hitch to the bumper on your East to West Della Terra travel trailer. You could then use a travel trailer rated bike rack and I have two options for that, as well as a bumper hitch, listed below:

Ultra-Fab 2" Motor Home Trailer Hitch Receiver for 4" x 4" Bumpers # UF35-946401
Hollywood Racks Bike Frame Adapter Bar for Women's and Alternative Frame Bikes # HRBA-PRO

I know all of these options are quite a bit more expensive than what you were probably hoping for, but the weight of your bike and how/where it will be mounted is making things a little difficult. Are you carrying anything in the bed of your truck when towing? I may have one more option if the bed is mostly empty.

I like the hitch mount. I don't know if you back the truck up and load from there. I've thought about a trailer frame mount, the frame is channel iron. I don't think I could ever trust the 4" tube bumper. You said you have an idea for the bed. I will have things in the bed. When the bike is in the bed it can fit diagonal, which is a waist of space. Is there a rack that is mounted above the side of the truck with the back tire over the tailgate. Ford only made over a million of these and more old farts like me are buying bikes. There is a lot of senior nomads. Thanks Doug

@DougW A hitch mounted to the frame of your trailer would definitely work and we actually have a lot of people go that route. You would just need to get the frame width and I could find a suitable hitch for you. It would likely be the lesser expensive way to go. However, if you aren't too worried about that, check out the Yakima BedRock HD Truck Bed Rack - Aluminum - 300 lbs - 78" Crossbars # Y01160-59. This basically creates a roof rack, for the lack of a better term, for your bed. It clamps to the bed rails and all you would need to do is get a roof mounted bike rack. However, this would mean lifting the bike up onto said rack, so it might be a bit difficult to do. I was going to suggest checking out the Softride Shuttle Pad Tailgate Pad for Full-Size Trucks - Up to 6 Bikes - 61" Wide # SR26457 if you didn't really have anything in your bed. It still might work though. Plus it's a lot less expensive.
