Question:

Hi, I want to replace my trailer brakes on a 25 YO 3500 2 axle trailer with hydraulic drum brakes on front. They are 10X2 1/4 pad size Can I use free backing brakes? I do not have any back up devices.

Hey David, yes you can go with a set of free-backing plates like the Demco Hydraulic Trailer Brakes # 40716-15 that you referenced. These are correct for a 3,500 lb axle like you have as well. Does your surge actuator not have a reverse lock out?

Hey David, did you find out if your surge actuator has a reverse lockout? If you're still working on this, I'm happy to help!
