Question:
Need to replace two older Penguin ii units on a motor home. So we need low profile. What do you recommend that would work and match up to the 08 Holiday Rambler ac distribution unit to line up with the vent system. Also what do we do about the thermostat which is a Dometic 5 button

Hey Bill, all of the RV AC unit replacement solutions we offer will require changing the lower vent assembly that you have now as it's just best to replace it all at same time if you want something that will work well and consistently. Unless you wanted to match what you have now with the replacements you go with it would be time to replace it all including a new thermostat.
For that I would go with the Furrion Chill Cube part # FR99TD as it blows the coldest, is the quietest, and also draws the lowest amount of power in use.
The only way to do just an upper unit replacement like I believe you were asking about is to match what you have with new Penguin II units. And since there was a refrigerant law change in January of 2025 the current models probably won't even work with the vent assemblies you have.

Thanks I like that it is 18,000 but there might be a problem in the extra 3' in height I need to think on that. Does the remote work as a wireless thermostat as running a new cable is quite difficult
