What Roadmaster Comfort Ride Kit For Keystone Cougar With 4,400 lb Axles

Updated 08/26/2025 | Published 08/13/2025

Question:

I have a keystone cougar half ton 27RES 2019. After my recent trip to Utah and back to Florida we need to upgrade and I wanted to do the road master kit with shocks. When I crawled under the unit I found that the axels are both 4400lb axels. Which kit should I get? I have less that 2 inches of clearance between the tires and the floor of the rv. When I had a blowout it ripped the floor out. Any advice?

Hello Ron, thanks for reaching out. The correct Roadmaster Comfort Ride Shock Absorber Kit for a 4,400 lb axle will be part # RM-2460 since they have a 3" diameter beam. That is just the shock kit, if you want the full suspension kit that will be the following:

- Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit w/ Shock Absorbers - Tandem 5K Trailer Axles # RM-2460-2560

And is there a way I can lift this to get more clearance. This thing only has about 2 inches from tire to floor.

@RonH The Roadmaster Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit w/ Shocks # RM-2460-2560 is designed to work on standard suspension. The only way to add a lift to this system would be to cut off your current hangers and have taller ones welded on. If you were to do only the shock kit, it would be possible to use a lift kit like the Correct Track Trailer Alignment and Lift Kit # RR23QX for 1-1/4" of lift or part # RR55QX for 2-1/4" of lift.
