Question:

I have a Boston Whaler 170 Montauk boat with a MagicTilt trailer that has a folding Y-type tongue and surge brakes. The boat and trailer together weigh about 3000 lbs. The tow vehicle is a 2025 Ford Ranger. Im interested in the Equalizer for sway control. I understand I will need a pole tongue adapter. My question is whether a 6000 lb rated equalizer will work for this purpose considering the folding trailer tongue. Or would you recommend the 4000 lb version? Or do neither work with a folding tongue? Thanks.

Sorry, William but you can not use a weight distribution hitch with a folding tongue even if you use a Pole-Tongue adapter like item # EQ95-01-5950. That hinge in your MagicTilt Trailer's tongue won't support the stress put on it by a weight distribution system.
