How to Connect the Ultra Faucets RV Drinking Water Faucet to a 3/8" Braided PVC Line

Updated 09/06/2025 | Published 08/08/2025

Question:

Could you be specific about connecting PVC braided 3/8inch ID line, which comes out of the DC pump Seaflo Diaphragm Pump with 3/8inch barbs, to the threaded input end of the faucet? See my picture. It is an example of what does not work.

Hey Andrew, welcome back. To connect your 3/8" braided PVC line to the Ultra Faucets RV Drinking Water Faucet item # 277-000189 you'll need to go to a hardware store and purchase a 1/4" female fitting with a barbed end that fits inside your 3/8" ID line. You've already got the hose clamp. You'll want to use thread tape on the fitting. Install it and then attach your PVC line to it so you don't have to mess with disconnecting that hose or getting it twisted up.

What kind of trailer do you have?

It is a VW van with a Riviera camper conversion. I took out the old hand pump because it would not hold a prime, and replaced it with the Seaflo electric DC pump.

For others; the thread on the faucet is 1/4” compression thread (NOT 1/4” iron pipe thread). The Seaflo Diaphragm pump has a 3/8” barb. This is a non standard connection and will take some adaptations. I am going to write a product review with pictures. It will be 1/4” Ice Maker Supply line (this has a 1/4” compression thread on BOTH ends), next a Male-Male adapter 1/4” compression to 1/4” MIP (Male Iron Pipe), next a 1/4” FIP (Female Iron Pipe) to 3/8” barb, next the 3/8” braided PVC line.
