How To Measure Wet Bolts And Suspension Components On Tandem Axle RV
Updated 08/13/2025 | Published 08/05/2025 >
Question:
Hello im going to upgrade my 25 tandem axle rv to the wet bolts, can you tell me how im going to measure these. Do I measure the TOTAL length of boltsincluding head or do I just measure from in back of the bolt head of my old shackle bolts. I may even upgrade the shackle straps at the same time.

Hello John, thanks for reaching out. For the wet bolts you can measure the overall length or the length not including the head. Honestly when replacing this stuff, the bolts are going to be a standard length and diameter. Typically I would not even need you to measure them when replacing your suspension. As long as you get the shackle and equalizer size right, you can be sure the wet bolts that come with the kit will fit.
What you will need to measure are the shackle links and the equalizer. Those need to be replaced with exact replacements.
The shackles are measured from center hole to center hole.
The equalizer is also measured from center hole to center hole. Draw a line between the bottom two holes and measure that distance. Then measure the distance from that line to the center of the top hole. The picture I provided will show you how to measure.
Get those measurements then reply on this page and let me know. I am happy to look into it and make sure you get the right thing.

Im going to order the MR46ZR wet bolt kit, are the wet bolts included the correct size(length)as the upgraded shackle straps are thicker than the original? Im also going to use the original equalizer, this kit is compatible with the original equalizer, correct? I see the same kit is offered on Amazon, if I buy it from Amazon does the same warranty/ customer service still work the same? Or am I better to order directly from Etrailer?
