Availability of Replacement Hub/Drum and Brake Assemblies for AL-KO

Updated 08/03/2025 | Published 07/29/2025

Question:

Hi, I bought a used trailer. The title says it was made in 1999. Brakes looks to be original. Id like to replace and the drums, but Im not sure which brakes I need. They are electric. I removed one of the tires to see what is stamped on the brake and the drum. The brake is stamped AL-KO 12-91. The drum has two stamps. the first is MAX. DIA. 12.090. The second is AL-KO 7200. Any idea what I need? This is the first trailer Ive bought with brakes, so Im pretty new to all this. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi David; that AL-KO axle with a 99 spindle is obsolete. This means the hub and drum assembly is no longer available. You can replace the brakes using the # AKEBRK-7-SA as long as you have a 5-bolt brake flange but we don't have a replacement hub/drum. You might be able to find one elsewhere, or at an RV salvage yard.

If you don't have any luck with that the only option would be to replace the axle with one that uses a modern bearing combination. If you do decide to go that route I can see what is available if you can give me your hub face measurement. I attached a video below which explains how to measure.
