Hi AJ!
We have everything you need to set up your 2001 VW Beetle 1.9 TDI with manual transmission for flat towing! I have all the parts I recommend listed below:
Needed Parts
Base Plate: Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # BX3815
Tow Bar: Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar for Blue Ox Base Plates - RV Mount - 2" Hitch - 6,000 lbs # RM-525
Wiring: Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles - 7-Way to 6-Way Coiled Adapter Cord # RM-15267
Optional Parts (though highly recommended)
Brake System: Brake Buddy Classic 3 Portable Flat Tow Brake System - Preset # HM39494
Charge Line: Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25
Most states, though not all, require a braking system in a flat towed vehicle and you will need to check with you local DMV and those of the states you are traveling through to see if it is required as well. The charge line will keep your battery charged and is always a good idea to grab. It's always a bummer when you get to your location and find out your battery is dead.
What Motorhome are you going to be pulling your Beetle with?
