Option For Adding Roof Rack To 2012 Toyota Sienna Without Factory Installed Rails

Updated 08/18/2025 | Published 07/20/2025

Question:

I have a 2012 Toyota Sienna BUT it DOES NOT have factory installed raised rails that run front to back. Do you have racks for my van?

Hello John, thanks for reaching out. Virtually all of the Siennas we see have the OEM rails on the roof, so all of the "custom fit" roof racks for the Sienna are for the factory rails. It is possible to add a roof rack to your Sienna without factory rails. This will involve adding a set of rails to the roof. Take a look at the following:

- Rhino-Rack Aero Bar Roof Rack for Camper Shells - Track Mount - Black - 54" Bars # Y02-480B

This is a full roof rack system. It comes with two 63" rails. These must be permanently mounted to the roof which will require drilling and should be done by a professional. It comes with a 54" aero crossbar. You will want to measure out your roof and make sure there is room for the 63" rails without any obstructions. Also make sure the rail spacing will accommodate the 54" bar. This setup is typically used on camper shells but can be used on van roofs as well.

What are you planning on using the roof rack for?

Hey John, did you get a chance to look into adding the roof rack to your Sienna? I'm curious to know how it worked out for you, as it could really help others in a similar situation!

The Rhino Racks are awesome, but they are way too expensive for me and there are some cheaper options available. My van is just a work van (I make surfboards) so I can use a cheap version and live with it. I am just too busy right now to do anything about it...good problem...LOL.
