What Silicone Sealant Should I Use After Installing the ONE LED RV Combination Tail Light?

Updated 09/03/2025 | Published 06/27/2025

Question:

I have a 2022 forest river 26mbrr. My license plate bracket broke and looking at this light to replace it, will order one for the passenger side too. When installing the new lights on the trailer what type of silicone is recommended to go around the outside of the backing plate to keep water out? All I have is the lap sealant for doing the roof. Would regular silicone from the hardware store or Home Depot work? Thanks Kevin

Hello Kevin,

When installing the ONE LED RV Combination Tail Light w/ License Plate Bracket - 4 Function - 1 Diode - Driver Side # RVSTLB0061 you can use some regular exterior-rated 100% silicone caulk like the TremPro 644 Silicone Sealant - 10.1-Fl-Oz Cartridge - Black # 0160299 from a your local hardware store.

Getting things geared up for the next big adventure? Where are you headed?

Hey Kevin, Did you end up using the regular silicone caulk from the hardware store for your trailer lights? I'm curious to know how it worked out for you, as it could help others who are in a similar situation.
