Can I Use the 7k Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator w/ Electric Lockout DM62VR to Replace a 6k One?

Updated 09/02/2025 | Published 06/17/2025

Question:

I bought the DM62VR 7000lb rating and noticed that my existing actuartor is a 6000lb. is that going to make any difference. I also read that you only need the 2 bolt holes to line up and the 3rd is optional. is that correct? thanks

Hey Jeff, welcome back. The Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator w/ Electric Lockout item # DM62VR is going to work just fine to replace your 6,000 lbs one. The important part is making sure your trailer has disc brakes because you'll blow drums out using the item # DM62VR.

Yes, that is correct. The Demco item # DM62VR only requires the top two bolt holes to be used. You'll need two 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" Grade-5 bolts.

What kind of trailer do you have?

Hey Jeff, did the Demco actuator work out for your trailer? I'm asking to see if it could help others with similar setups.
