Recommended Equalizer w/ a 6-1/4" Center Bolt to Center Bolt Spacing

Updated 07/08/2025 | Published 06/16/2025

Question:

Im looking for new trailer suspension components. The trailer is quite old ~80s and is in need of all new equalizers, shackles, and perhaps leaf springs if we could get them to avoid pressing out bushings. The equalizer measures 2.0 from top to bottom measure from center bolts and the two lower bolts measure 6.25, It is I believe a 1.5 thick unit. Leaf springs still installed are 3-leafs with ~ 27 inches between the two eyes. I can send a photo if that would help, thanks!

Hey Greg, thanks for the information. To replace your equalizer you'll want the Curved Equalizer for 1-3/4" Wide Double-Eye Springs - 6-1/4" Long - 3/4" Center Hole item # TREQ458. From the way you described yours this matches your dimensions perfectly. It's sold individually.

In order to recommend the right shackle and wet bolt kit, I'll need you to measure the distance between the bolt holes on one of the shackles.

How did you get your 27" measurement on the leaf springs? A used spring is going to stretch out quite a bit over years of us. We recommend jacking the trailer up and getting the weight off of one side then measuring the eye to eye distance.

You can add this information and any other questions you have where it says Reply to Jerred H and I'll be happy to answer them.

Jerred, Finally got outside to work on the trailer in between heat waves. The shackles measure 2.75" between holes as I was able to pull them off. I will need new bushings for the leaf eyes and at this point I'd like to try Nylon/maintenance free. The leaf spring measurement were taken with the load off of them and I verified 27" between eyes.

@GregB Thanks for the information! To replace your shackle straps, wet bolts, and springs you'll need the following parts: MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit for Tandem Axle Trailers - 2-1/4" Long Shackle Straps item # MR46ZR 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 3,500-lb Trailer Axles - 27" Long item # e97SR The new springs come with built in nylon bushings and the wet bolts included with item # MR46ZR have grease zerks built into them so you can keep your suspension lubricated.
