Needing Replacement Bearings For My Trailer, Would You Recommend Timken Bearings?

Updated 06/20/2025 | Published 06/11/2025

Question:

Wanted to get your advice on the bearing kit I should buy for my Rockwell American EE35680495655IEC 3500 lb axle. It is attached to a Timberleaf tear trailer 1100 pounds that we drive cross country long hours at highway speeds. I have heard timken recommended but figured it was worth an ask for your advice. Kit should have the 4 bearings needed, seals and grease. Thanks for your help!

Hey Dave,

At least out of the bearings that we carry Timken is going to be the better quality bearings. The more important thing is just getting the right bearings for your hub. I took a look at that axle number and I was not able to find any specific information as to what bearings are on that axle. If you are able to get a model number off of your hub or numbers off of the bearings I can take a look and see what options we have.

I recommend going with a Timken kit if there is one for your bearing sizes. Let me know if you are able to find anymore information on your hubs or bearings and I will see what we have for you.

Hi Nick sorry this took a little while as I had to call Dexter. They said the axle uses a 1 1/4” outer and a 1 3/8” inner. They also gave me the Dexter part numbers but I will buy the timken kit/ bearings. Dexter outer L44649 and inner L68149. Lmk what timken kit you think is best. Thanks again

@DaveC No worries! It makes it easier when Dexter just tells you what you need. The Timken kit for those bearings is going to be # TMK52VR. That will be a bearing kit for 1 hub.

@Nicks Thanks Nick! Looks like it doesn’t come with the grease. I would just need enough for the two hubs is there a product u like in a smaller size

@DaveC We recommend # L11380 for the bearings. It may be a little larger for 2 hubs but you'll have extra down the road when you ever need to pack them again.
