Recommended Hitch and 7-Way Connector for a 2019 Ram ProMaster 3500 w/out the Tow Package

Question:

Good Morning, Im needing to install a hitch and wiring harness for my companies 2019 RAM ProMaster 3500 van. I have decided on the TS75ZR hitch the van wont be towing very often What are your recommendations on a plug and play wiring system to use a 7 pin plus 4 flat plug in ? No factory towing package installed on the van. Im fine with multiple items being needed to make it as simple an install as needed. Thanks

Hey Chris! The TowSmart Trailer Hitch item # TS75ZR is confirmed to fit the 2019 Ram ProMaster 3500. This is a class III hitch with a 2" receiver.

To add a 7-way and 4-way connector to your van you'll need two separate wiring harnesses. The first one is the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness item # C58DR. This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your Ram's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area, behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side rear access panels.

The second harness you will need is the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller item # ETBC7. The kit includes a pre-wired 7- and 4-way trailer connector that mounts easily at the rear of your Ram with an included bracket. This kit is designed for use on a vehicle with an existing 4-way flat trailer connector and plugs directly into it. 

You will then connect the blue wire to the blue wire on the brake controller, connect the black wire to the positive post on the vehicle's battery, the white wire to ground, and the yellow wire to vehicle's reverse circuit if applicable. This will provide you with the ability to control your trailer's brakes and also provide you with a 12v power wire for you trailer's accessory lights.

Do you also need a brake controller? The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 item # 90885 is one of our most popular and easiest to use. It's a proportional controller that slows or stops your trailer with the same amount of force your Promaster is slowing or stopping with.

To round out your towing setup, I recommend the Curt Towing Starter Kit for 2" Hitches item # C45534. This towing kit will provide you with a 2" ball and a fixed ball mount with a 3/4" rise and 2" drop. It also includes a hitch pin and clip, hitch receiver lock with keys, hitch cover, and a storage case.
