Can 3,500 lb Brakes be Installed on a 6x10 Cargo Trailer Rated for 2,290 lbs

Question:
I have a 6x10 cargo trailer with a single Dexter Axle rated for 2990lbs. 15 inch wheels. Would this system work? I imagine being under 3500lbs wouldn’t hurt?

Hey Eric, thanks for reaching out!
The 10" etrailer Electric Trailer Brakes # AKEBRK-35 will work just fine even though your trailer is rated for less than the brake assemblies.
You might experience a bit of aggressive braking, but if you adjust the brakes to where there is a slight drag when you spin the tire, you'll have the best braking possible.
Are you planning on swapping these out yourself, or having a shop do it?

Hey Eric, did you decide to install the brakes yourself or have a shop do it? I'm curious to know how it went, as it could help others in a similar situation.
